Even before the ceremonial launch, initial deliveries amounting to 1,900 kilos of premium Satsuma citrus had already reached Robinsons Supermarket branches on September 17, 2025. These were distributed across Robinsons Galleria, Manila, Magnolia, Eastwood, Metro East, and Otis.

The initiative is designed not only to open new markets for farmers but also to reduce logistics costs and streamline supply chains. By doing so, it keeps retail food prices competitive for consumers while improving the incomes of local producers.

Robinsons Supermarket affirmed its commitment to a sustained partnership with NVAT, Inc. beyond the Satsuma season. Moving forward, the retailer intends to order other premium Vizcaya citrus varieties such as Pinkan and Tancan, alongside staple vegetables like sayote, carrots, potatoes, and cucumbers. These long-term arrangements are expected to stabilize retail prices, strengthen supply chains, and expand the market reach of Nueva Vizcaya farmers.

The launch was graced by key officials and partners, including Assistant Secretary Kristian Ablan of the DTI Management Services Group, Mr. Aivan Kurt Alfaro, General Manager of NVAT, Inc., and Robinsons Supermarket executives — Mr. Kerwin L. Legarde (Group General Manager), and Ms. Madonna O. Adalin (Division Merchandise Manager) — who reaffirmed their support for this initiative.

DTI officials emphasized that this collaboration represents a whole-of-supply-chain approach that cuts transport and handling costs, maintains product quality, and delivers benefits to both producers and consumers. NVAT, Inc. likewise underscored its commitment to scaling up its digital tools and postharvest systems to meet the growing demand from institutional buyers like Robinsons Supermarket.

Assistant Secretary Kristian Ablan stressed the broader significance of the initiative, saying: “For the DTI, this event is a major step in our efforts to improve market access and food logistics. The idea is simple: to create a more efficient supply chain by directly linking buyers and suppliers—cutting out layers of traders and ensuring farmers receive a fairer price”
