Bahandi Trade Fair: DTI-SCLG boosts MSME Growth via SCLC Booth

MANDALUYONG CITY—From October 9 to 13, the Department of Trade and Industry’s Supply Chain and Logistics Group (DTI-SCLG) participated in the 25th Bahandi Eastern Visayas Trade Fair at Megatrade Hall 1, SM Megamall. “Bahandi,” meaning “treasures,” is hosted by DTI Region 8 and features Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This year’s event brought together 141 MSMEs showcasing products such as pili nuts, cacao, handmade bags, shoes crafted from coconut shells, and carabao horns.

Representing DTI-SCLG, Chief Trade Industry Development Specialist Jonathan G. Cabaltera highlighted the group’s initiatives aimed at improving supply chain efficiency, reducing logistics costs, and expanding market access by linking MSMEs with key service providers.

“We are committed to fostering a more efficient, reliable, and sustainable logistics ecosystem—one that supports our industries, empowers our MSMEs, and ensures every Filipino consumer benefits from a competitive and inclusive economy,” Cabaltera said.

To demonstrate that commitment, DTI-SCLG established a booth for its Supply Chain and Logistics Center (SCLC), where it directly matched MSMEs with logistics partners offering discounted shipping and other special services. At the booth, the team also introduced digital platforms such as the SCLC Portal, envisioned as the central hub for DTI-SCLG services. The portal provides access to training programs, consultation services, and policy information designed to strengthen MSME operations.
